McMahon Line was border settlement treaty between British India and Tibet. China was not involved in this treaty simply because China has no business in independent Tibet. McMahon line is a proof of Tibet’s independence status prior to Chinese occupation of Tibet. Article didn’t mention anything behind the treaty and parties involved in drafting the line.
